Event organized by Biosystems Analytical Solutions Srl.
Biosystems is a global company that has been developing advanced analytical solutions for over 40 years, designed to ensure the highest quality across various sectors such as food, clinical diagnostics, veterinary medicine, and biological process monitoring. Its goal is to drive innovation by producing analytical instruments and dedicated reagents that precisely meet the specific needs of its customers, with a strong focus on data accuracy and reliability.
In the food sector, the company stands out for offering analytical systems that meet quality control requirements at different stages of the production process, thereby ensuring product safety and integrity.
Biosystems develops highly flexible systems that allow food companies and third-party laboratories to quickly adapt to market changes and evolving regulations.
One of the flagship instruments developed for this purpose is the Y15 analyzer, a device designed to deliver fast, accurate, and easy-to-perform analyses, adaptable to a wide range of food applications. The Y15 is a multiparametric analyzer, allowing control of various parameters on the same or different samples, such as sugars and organic acids in matrices like fruit juices, preserves, and processed foods, as well as histamine and sulfites in fish and seafood. This maximizes analytical efficiency and reduces operational costs.
One of Biosystems’ most important innovations is the development of a method for detecting gluten contamination in a wide variety of foods and beverages. The method is based on the immunoturbidimetric principle, in which latex nanoparticles are coated with a specific antibody for the 33-mer sequence of gliadin, one of the main gluten proteins.
The high antigen–antibody affinity ensures direct and highly accurate quantification of gluten in the sample, with no need for manual pipetting, lengthy incubations, frequent washing, or calibrations. This enhances the user experience through automation. The method was developed in line with the latest AOAC (Association of Analytical Collaboration) guidelines for allergen method validation and is currently undergoing PTM (Performance Tested Method) evaluation by AOAC.
Using ready-to-use liquid reagents, a simple extraction process (without toxic compounds, so no fume hood required), and broad validation across many sample types, combined with full automation, makes this a unique system on the market—scalable for both small and large companies, as well as external laboratories.
