SISNIR – Società Italiana di Spettroscopia NIR
|
Evento organized by Italian Society for NIR Spectroscopy (SISNIR).
SISNIR promotes the dissemination and development of Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy by training young researchers, providing continuous updates for its members, and organizing scientific events, including the NIRITALIA Symposium. The Society also supports the participation of young researchers in international conferences, highlighting the Italian contribution to NIR research.
Session content
Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is a rapid, non-destructive, and sustainable analytical technique that has seen growing adoption across numerous sectors—from research to industry—over recent decades. Thanks to its ability to provide information on material composition and characteristics in a very short time and without the need for complex sample preparation, NIR today represents a versatile tool for quality control and decision-making support.
The presentation will offer an overview of the potential of NIR spectroscopy, illustrating its operating principles and main applications in the agri-food sector. Through examples and case studies, it will demonstrate how this technology can be used for the characterization and authentication of food products, contributing to the enhancement of traditional products and the verification of origin, quality, and compliance.
Furthermore, applications related to the monitoring of production processes will be presented, a field in which NIR serves as a strategic tool for acquiring real-time information and supporting the optimization of industrial operations. Indeed, integrating NIR spectroscopy with multivariate analysis approaches allows complex data to be transformed into useful information for process control and management.
The objective of the presentation is to highlight the role of NIR spectroscopy as an interdisciplinary technology capable of combining scientific research and industrial applications, offering innovative solutions to address challenges related to the quality, authenticity, and sustainability of agri-food production.
